Anna Monica

Anna Monica Murphy, born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, is a self-taught fine art painter, primarily working with watercolours and acrylics. Following the completion of an International Business Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Anna lived and worked in Europe at a global fashion brand before coming home where she works as a realtor by day and an artist by night.

Through balancing elements of both natural and material iconic Newfoundland symbols, the focus of Anna Monica’s current work is to capture the communion between nature and culture. By displaying the two segments in harmony, the work attempts to map the viewer from the vernacular perception of nature versus nurture, and toward a recognition of their unified existence.

Anna's practice is continuously adapting, with ongoing developments in visual art, children's books, and jewellery.
